Garden of Remembrance

- 05/11/2014

On 28 October Mrs Janet Bowen, Lord-Lieutenant for Ross and Cromarty, Skye and Lochalsh, inauguarated a Garden of Remembrance at the War Memorial in Dingwall.

The Rev Ian Pallett led a short service at which members of Dingwall Academy read a four part poem and pipers from the school played a lament. Mrs Bowen then placed the first cross of remembrance on behalf of Sergeant John Meikle, VC and read a part of the citation for his posthumous award.

Crosses for the Garden of Remembrance, which will remain open to 11 November, are available at no charge (although a donation can be made) from The National Hotel, The Royal Bank of Scotland, Tesco's and other outlets. Members of the public are encouraged to remember an individual and place the cross in the Garden.
