Dunvegan remembers WW1 outbreak

- 21/07/2014

Mrs Janet Bowen, Lord-Lieutenant of Ross and Cromarty, Skye and Lochalsh, took the salute at the parade and flypast at Dunvegan on Monday 4 August, in an event to mark the outbreak of the First World War.

Mrs Bowen met members of the community and spoke briefly, remembering the sacrifices that had been made and the effects of the loss of life on small communities.

Mrs Bowen laid a wreath with children from the community.

Trees will be planted behind the war memorial: one for each life lost in the Great War.
