- 02/10/2013

The Princess Royal, Patron of Columba 1400, visited the Staffin Centre on Monday 30 September 2013, and was met by Mrs Janet Bowen, Lord Lieutenant of Ross and Cromarty, Skye and Lochalsh.

Princess Anne was welcomed by the Reverend Norman Drummond, founder, and Maggie Cunningham CEO of Columba 1400 and then attended a number of workshops on the key values of the organisation and its academies: awareness, focus, integrity, creativity, perseverance and service. Further information can be founds at http://www.columba1400.com/.

In the evening Princess Anne attended a dinner with Columba graduates, staff and supporters to celebrate the past 13 years since the beginning, a period which has seen some 5,000 graduate from Columba academies.

Norman Drummond, Maggie Cunningham, Lindsey Watt (a trustee) and graduates spoke to endorse Columba 1400's mission 'to help people from tough realities to elicit the inner greatness that is already within them to transform both their own lives and those of their communities', to endorse ongoing academies (specfically the Head Teacher and Ambassador programmes) and to explain new initiatives, specifically with Families and Young Offenders.

Princess Anne responded to encourage and to endorse the work of Columba 1400.
