Visit to Cromarty by His Royal Highness Prince Edward

On Monday 26 June, Mrs Janet Bowen, Lord-Lieutenant for Ross and Cromarty, Skye and Lochalsh welcomed His Royal Highness Prince Edward to Cromarty.

During the day His Royal Highness carried out a number of engagements meeting a wide variety of the local community.

On landing at the Links the royal party were received by the Lord-Lieutenant for Ross and Cromarty, Mrs Janet Bowen with cadet Flight Sergeant Jasmine Henderson in attendance.

The first visit was to Victoria Hall for a lunch with guests, including Mrs Anne Short MBE, a former resident of the Falkland Islands who is greatly involved in the community alongside High Life Highland Youth Development Officer, Wanda Mackay.

After lunch the Avoch Sea Scouts formed a Guard of Honour outside Victoria Hall and Vice Convenor of The Highland Council, Councillor Isabelle Campbell and Black Isle Councillor Jennifer Barclay were presented with a wide range of community groups.

This was followed a visit to Cromarty Primary School to open the new wing, where the Prince met a full length portrait of himself made by the children.

This was followed by visits to The Court House and The East Church, where the Prince was invited to 'ring the bell'.

After that Prince Edward went to the Harbour to meet the staff of Ecoventures and the crew of the village skiff.

He finished his day with a visit to Cromarty Brewery.
