On 24 April Mrs Janet Bowen, Lord-Lieutenant of Ross and Cromarty welcomed Princess Anne who is soon to be the Master of the Fishmonger's Company (one of the twelve great livery companies of the City of London) to a demonstration of electro fishing on Dunglass Island just outside Maryburgh. The Fishmonger's Company take an active interest in fish stocks.

The visit was masterminded by Alexander Matheson of Brahan Estate and Simon MacKelvey who demonstrated electro fishing and then reviewed the 'catch'.

The Princess also met children from Strathpeffer Primary School and was able to see some of their work including an impressive collage. She also was able to meet representatives from the many bodies involved in the Cromarty Firth and River Conon Fisheries, as well ghillies from the Brahan beat.
